Florida Panthers
The southernmost team in the NHL the Panthers play their home games out of BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. The Panthers joined the NHL in 1993, where they finished one spot out of the playoffs in their first season. A couple years later in 1996 they made a surprise run to the Stanley Cup Finals where they eventually lost to the Colorado Avalanche. Even still Bryan Murray, their general manager was honored as executive of the year. After a couple of rough seasons following their run, the Panthers traded for the “Russian Rocket”, Pavel Bure from the Canucks. They made the playoffs again in 2000, but that would be the last time for a while. The franchise struggled and finally Dale Tallon was hired as GM. He would go on to make a bunch of bold moves and he got the cats back into the playoffs in 2012. The Panthers seek to continue making progress, come out and support them.
