Los Angeles Kings

The Kings came into the league in 1967. The owner, Jack Cooke decided to build a new stadium for the Kings to play in, but it wasn’t complete when their first season started. The Kings started their history playing in Long Beach, until they moved into the Forum on December 30th 1967. The Kings had a moderate amount of success in their early years but failed to win the Stanley Cup. On August 9th 1988 the Kings traded for Wayne Gretzky. “The Great One” would help to make hockey even more popular in southern California. In 1993 the Kings made it to the Stanley Cup final for the first time in their history. They would go on to lose to the Canadiens in 5 games. The Kings underwent hard times with their management and ended up trading Gretzky in 1996. The kings underwent a slump during which they received some high draft picks. In 2010 they finally earned their way back into the playoffs. In 2010 the Kings won their first Stanley Cup in Franchise History. The following season the kings lost in the semifinals, but bounced back the next season. They would fight to win three game 7s on the way to the Finals, where they would beat the New York Rangers in 6 games. Come out to Staples Center and watch the talented team fight for another chance to win the cup.
